SILENCE! « Thread Started on Jul 8, 2008, 9:46am »
Renlia sat at her cot bed, waiting... She didn't know what she was waiting for or why, she just knew that she felt a sense of waiting. She felt ready to scream from the pressure of silence, but of course, she couldn't scream, she couldn't make any sound because of her shadin vocal chords. Oh yes, if she could scream, she would be screaming at that moment. She had already visited Kima, Fynl, and the new foal and now she had nothingleft to do. Maybe she should take up a second crafter job, incase she didn't impress.
OH the horrid Silence! Why couldn't someone or someones just start talking, why couldn't there be noice to break the silence. It was horrible, having to sit there and have no way to be noticed, no way to break the horrible silence.
"To fly here on Terra, you must ride, then, the horse comes to the jump, and deposits you into the air. Three lovely seconds of actual flying, and then you come back down sadly and hit the ground, hard, and the horse is nowhere to be seen, you have to walk home, BUT IT WAS WORTH FLYING" -ME Candidate Renlia; Runners Kima and Fynl
Shiane's voice was soft and hesitent, not hearing her sister's familliar footsteps as she stepped cautiously into the barracks. She didn't often stay too long here, Ria didn't want to give the girls any reason to be annoyed at her little sister, for all that Shiane was perfectly capable of leaving on her own. She couldn't hear much, and that alone seemed to point at no one in the barracks.
Stepping forward more, it would of course be at that moment that Shiane's foot would catch on some sort of material and she'd fall. Unlike many girls, who might fuss and whine about the whole thing, Shiane merely ran her fingertips over her wrists and ankles, checking that all was in working order. Then she untangled her feet and got to her feet with all the grace she could.
Reaching out with a hand to check there was nothing in front of her, Shiane jumped in shock when her hand touched someone's shoulder. "Hello?" Why hadn't they said anything? How mean and... why would they just stay there, silently laughing?

Renlia was starled and jumped a little when someone touched her. Could these people not see where they were going? She stared at the girl for a second and then pointed at herself and then spelled Renlia in the air with capital letters, hopefully the girl would understand. Sometimes though people were stupid and then they couldn't understand why she couldn't ever really talk back. (the when on Dividend was a mistake, Dividend is my roan pony and I had just ridden him...) (OOC: To tired to write more...)

Shiane jerked her hand back as the person jumped slightly, frowning at the lack of response. This wasn't funny, people making fun of her disability was something Shiane had gotten used to, but it didn't please her any more than it ever did. Blushing brightly as the silence stretched on, Shiane shook her head slightly, "Why won't you talk?" She mumbled, embarassed that she would have to ask them too. Ria could just smile and offer a hand, then they could do that in response, but not Shi.
"Shiane?" Turning as Ria's voice startled her, Shiane smiled with relief as her sister's familliar footsteps carried her closer. Ria merely glanced at the other girl, frowning at the blush on her sister's cheeks. Odd. Shrugging slightly, she tapped Shi's shoulder to let her know she was there before turning to the other girl. "Hello, I'm Aaria, this is my sister Shiane..." A long pause, "Why are you writing in the air?" Raising a brow slightly, she smiled in what she hoped was a reassuring manner, maybe the other girl was like her sister, just differently. "If you're trying to communicate with her, Shi can't see you writing things. She's blind, I can help though, were you trying to tell her your name or something?"

Renlia nodded at the girl when she spoke, so the other girl was blind. With a slight smile she wrote her name again, but this time in a bit of dust, so that it would be easier to read. It was to bad that she didn't have something better than dust, she didn't have a slate, and if the other girl was blind it wouldn't be helpful anyway. Renlia then carefully wrote MUTE. She wasn't afraid to admit it, she was mute and what could she do about it, nothing. It was something she had been born with. (OOC: sorry again, still tired)

"Renlia? Pretty name. It's okay you know, being mute isn't a bad thing, though I guess I'm more tolerant that a couple of teh girls." This was said gently by Ria, before looking around for somewhere to sit and perching on the nearest cot, dragging her sister to sit with her. "I mean, I'd have to be. I've grown up with Shi, so tolerance is like... You know, second nature now."
Shiane merely lowered her head as though staring at her hands, this wasn't the case - obviously - but the feel of her hair coming forward to shield her face was the idea in the action. She was always so much more comfortable when people weren't staring at her sightless eyes and not knowing what they were thinking. That to her was second nature, just knowing when someone's staring. "You're a candidate, right?" Shiane's voice was tinted with the slightest touch of jealousy as she spoke, though she didn't raise her head. Lucky her, her dissability didn't stop her Impressing.
"If you don't mind me asking, were you born mute, like Shi was blind? Or did it happen?"

Rnlia nodded yes to the question of her being a candidate. She hated not being able to talk. She picked up a slate and piece of chalk that she had for talking. She wrote yes to being a candidate letting the sister who wasn't blind see it. She also had yes for the next question, she was born blind. She then wrote, at least you can talk and don't struggle for everyone who doesn't have a dragon to understand you. After that she wrote, I have two runners and one has a foal. Shewasa about to write that they could come and see them, but she decided to put instead, you could come and feed them treats if you want. The foal is already promised to a dragonrider for her children.
