Appearance: Torimir is a sturdy boy of average height. Although he is still young, his frame already shows a hint of a smith’s broad shoulders and the strength that would be his as an adult. Feet that sometimes seemed to large for him and big, strong hands spoke of a lot of height yet to come.

Torimir’s pale face still has the slightly chubby roundness of a child. He rarely smiles, although when he does the unrestrained delight completely lights up his features. Mostly his expression is as serious as his worried amber eyes. The unusual color of his eyes is Torimir’s most note-worthy feature, especially compared to his ordinary mink-brown hair and pale freckled skin.

Personality: The young apprentice Smith has always been a thoughtful person – it came from always being so much stronger than his mates and being careful not to hurt them. This natural thoughtfulness also manifests itself in a tendency to overthink things, making people assume that he’s a bit slow. He’s not stupid, however. He just doesn’t like to rush into things and risk making mistakes. That’s a bit of a fault for Torimir, not taking risks. He also has very strong morals. Push him too far, and you’ll see a rock-solid obstinacy to back those morals. Torimir is very loyal to his friends – he would do anything to protect them from harm, although he wouldn’t understand if they tried to thank him. To him, it’s just something you have to do, and he doesn’t understand why that would surprise anyone.

History: Torimir was born at Telgar Hold. His father was a Journeyman Smith. Much of Torimir’s childhood was uneventful, until he was nine Turns old. That’s when his strength, inherited from his father, became more readily apparent. In defending himself against the Lord Holder’s son (a terrible bully), Torimir accidentally broke the older boy’s arm. Needing to protect Torimir from the Lord Holder’s unjust wrath but not wanting to be parted from his only child, Torimir’s father had him taken in by the Smithcraft Hall to be apprenticed.

Although he was rather young for an apprentice, Torimir’s maturity and seriousness impressed the Mastersmith. He’d probably have walked the tables when he was thirteen by merit of his skill as a smith, but it was deemed too young for a Journeyman so they would wait for another two years. That year, however, a Search dragon from Telgar Weyr appeared at the Hold. Torimir was one of five chosen to stand for one of the junior queen’s clutches, but didn’t Impress that time, or the next.

Torimir, frankly, was certain he’d never Impress. But not long after he turned fourteen, the boy found himself transferred to another Weyr, one he’d never heard of. Why, he honestly didn’t know. He hadn’t requested it, but there was no reason the Telgar Weyrleaders would want him gone either. A mystery.
